Fable Anniversary Full Achievement List

AchievementHello everyone, Ted here! As if yesterday's Fable Anniversary announcements weren't exciting enough, we have more in store for you...

I bloody love achievements. Sure, my Gamerscore could be higher, but why play anything other than Fable Anniversary – right?! Ahem.

Now that I’ve got my excuses out of the way for not having better ‘G’ (although I like to think that 40,000 is a decent enough score!), let’s get onto the good stuff. The thing you’ve all been waiting for. No, no - not that you can grow an acorn or meet a Sandgoose. This is about something far more exciting – Fable Anniversary’s achievement list!

Any game designer will testify, that designing Xbox achievements is a blast! We always open the ideas pool up to every single member of staff here at Lionhead, and this year we started with a list of over 150 ideas. We then whittled this down to 49 achievements, but we just couldn’t think of a 50th – which is where you guys and girls came in! For those of you that may remember, we invited YOU, the fans, to help us design the 50th achievement. You submitted over 3,000 ideas (almost putting us out of a job in the process), to which there was a winner and it is now in the game. Read more here.

With the intro out of the way, now onto the achievements themselves. Let me explain in a little more detail what you’re about to read and the reasons why it is presented as it is. As you know by now, I really like achievements. BUT! I really HATE spoilers, therefore I find myself often not reading achievement announcements out of pure fear of #spoilers! What I’ve decided to do then, is to rate each of our achievements in this blog based on a spoiler rating from 1 to 5:

  • A “Category 1” Achievement is something that is just a bit of fun you can do at almost any point in the game.
  • A “Category 3” Achievement is something that, whilst you can’t miss it, it will require you to do something different, something that requires thinking outside of the box.
  • A “Category 5” Achievement however, is the big spoiler daddy of achievements. These Category 5’s will be at the very bottom of this blog. So be warned, that if you want to know ***** that happens in ***** when you’re ***** then only read to the bottom!

The Icons

So first up on this achievements blog; the icons! I’m going to tell you a short story about these achievements, but first I need you to picture this; a kid at school, with ginger hair, glasses and braces. Yep, that was me. Not only did I have all this, just to make sure I ticked all of the cliché boxes, I also collected stamps. Nerd alert indeed, but I like to think also something to be proud of! Although I don’t collect stamps anymore (I’m waaaay too cool for that now, honest), when I started designing the Fable Anniversary achievements I was trying to think of things that hadn’t been done before, which in over 8 years since the first Xbox 360 achievement went ‘plink’ is not an easy task! This got me thinking though, that I hadn’t ever seen the Gamerscore added to the icon before (please prove me wrong in the forum comments!), and then my nothing-to-be-ashamed-of-but-also-super-nerdy childhood memories of stamp collecting also kicked in. What if the Fable Anniversary achievement icons looked like the quaint little English stamps that I would collect as a kid, so here you have it – the full set of 50 stamps as created by our very talented 2D artist Jenny:

The Missables

With the icons out of the way and perhaps even some intriguing foundations being laid, I’m going to move on to what is commonly known as the “Missable Achievement”. I know how much these can suck (I’m looking at you, Sander Cohen!) so even though a couple of the following could be classed as a “Category 3” achievement, they won’t spoil anything of major spoilery importance for you:

20G - Are You Not Entertained!?

Complete all 8 rounds of the Arena without taking a break

5G - Hero, Their Health Is Low

Heal a follower on an Escort Quest. No, not *that* kind of 'escort'.

20G - Combat, Evolved

Use an 'Ages of...' Potion with a combat multiplier of 20 or more

10G - As Quiet As A Whisper

Defeat Whisper in a battle without losing any health.

 The Category 1's & 2's

Now that we’ve discussed the potentially missable achievements, I feel it’s time to move onto the category 1’s / 2’s, and there’s a short story behind these achievements too! It was a lovely summer’s day at Lionhead; the skies were grey and it was raining hard. We had with us our list of 150 achievement ideas, but something didn’t seem right. It was then, that we conjured up the idea that “For every achievement, a consequence”. Ok, ok, perhaps not every achievement, but we thought wouldn’t it be cool to have 15 achievements that could be earned in one of two ways! Here are those very 15 achievements, along with the conditions that you need to unlock them.

25G - For Every Choice, An Achievement

Become holier than Avo, or more evil than Skorm!

 15G - But You're A Wizard, Hero

Learn one of each spell type, or own one of each weapon type.

15G - That's A Real Lunker!

Win 1st prize in the Fisherman's competition, or complete the boast for doing any quest naked.

15G - Fight Cluck

Become the Fist Fighter's World Champion, or win the Chicken Hat in the Chicken Kicking Competition.

15G - Arthur Or Robin?

Pull the sword from the stone, or earn the top prize in the Archery Competition.

15G - Choosing My Religion

Donate a total of 100,000 Gold to the Temple of Avo, or sacrifice 10 people to the Chapel of Skorm.

20G - Open Saysmemiddlefinger

Open all the Demon Doors, or show a closed Demon Door what you think of it.

15G - Project Ego

Show all available witnesses a trophy in the trophy mini-game, or decorate your home with a trophy.

10G - What Are Ya Sellin'?

Make a profit from selling to a trader, or steal an item using the "Steal" expression from a trader.

10G - The Hero Of Time

Eat a Moonfish in Bowerstone during the day, or a Golden Carrot at night.

20G - Beauty Or The Beast

Reach the maximum of your chosen attractiveness; ugly or beautiful!

10G - Marital Relations

Receive a gift from your spouse, or flirt with an admirer in front of your spouse.

10G - The Drinking Game

Drink until you vomit, or 'help' a friendly villager get drunk.

20G - Definitely Not On Rails

Visit every region (excluding Demon Doors), or increase your waistline so that you don't have to.

15G - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'

Earn 10,000 Gold from property rental, or die.

But this is where it gets really interesting; based on the decision you make you will unlock either of the above unique achievement icons on the Fable Anniversary achievement interface. Not only will your friends know what decision you made when they see your stamp collection, so will the in-game characters. Oh, so you decided to become obese in order to shortcut the “Definitely Not On Rails” achievement? Watch the villagers of Albion judge you the next time you enter the local tavern...

The Category 3’s & 4’s

We’re getting close now, it’s time to move onto the Category 3’s and 4’s. These achievements require a certain amount of thought, or a certain technique in order to unlock. These are the kind of achievements that will unlock if you pull off a cool feat, or reward you from doing something different. If you don’t want to spoil the surprise of these, look away now!

5G - Ass Creed

Whilst dressed as an Assassin, be silent but deadly

5G - I Did This For A Cheevo

Perform a headshot with a Crossbow whilst dressed as a woman wearing a beard and the Redhead Wig.

10G - There Is No Spoon

Use the power of mind control on an enemy, and have them kill one of their allies.

25G - Out Of The Frying Pan...

…Into your face! Express your feelings through the medium of Frying Pan.

10G - Feed The Troll

Give a Troll a taste of its own medicine.

10G - The Summoner's Tail

Summon a powerful creature to fight by your side.

20G - The Swinging Sword

Hit 3 enemies simultaneously with a single flourish like you're a real swinger.

30G - You Are A Super Player

Find all 30 silver keys. In unrelated news; the Fable Anniversary Strategy guide is available now!

15G - Fable Heroes

The Bowerstone Teacher is on the lookout for Hero Dolls, help him find them!

25G - Education Rules The Nation

The children in Bowerstone have no books to read! You don't want illiterate children, do you?

5G - Get It Off Your Chest

Open your first Silver Key Chest to reveal the amazing surprise inside!

10G - Horde Mode

Some weapons are Legendary, and we feel it's worth you collecting at least 10 of them.

5G - The Ultimate Warrior

Treat yourself to a beard, haircut and tattoo, the 'Toupée And Tattoo Society' demands it.

20G - That's My Man!

Level up a complete abilities tree, be it Strength, Skill or Will.

25G - I Am Legendary

Earn enough Renown to be known in Albion as "Legendary".

20G - See The Future

Connect Xbox SmartGlass to Fable Anniversary, isn’t technology amazing!

This is it, if you’ve read this far you are a true achievement hunter. You are the kind of player that will earn achievements at all costs even if it means playing Avatar: The Legend of Aang, you’ll laugh in the face of a website *spoiler* tag, and if someone says they haven’t seen Star Wars, you are the first to reply with “Darth Vader is Luke’s father”. You, oh immortal one, are now rewarded with all 15 of the story-based achievements:

25G - From The Smallest Acorn

Every tall Oak tree needed to have its acorn moment, this is yours.

25G - The Graduation

Graduate from the Heroes Guild to become a real Hero.

25G - Becoming A Man

Pay a visit to Orchard Farm to see if you can be of help or hindrance.

25G - The Bloodline Part I

Find the whereabouts of your sister, she's very important to the future of Albion.

25G - Under A Full Moon

There's something going on in Knothole Glade under a full moon. Cliché? Never.

25G - Gladiator, Ready!

Take on the might of everything that Albion has to offer. Well, almost everything…

25G - A Family Friend

Rescue the Archaeologist, and find the secret entrance into Bargate Prison.

25G - Fishing In A Graveyard

Go fishing and digging in a graveyard, as if it's a completely normal thing to do.

25G - The Bloodline Part II

Now it's your mother that has gone missing, so it's time to find her too. Families, who needs 'em?

25G - There's Always A Lighthouse

Would you kindly rid Albion of its greatest traitor.

50G - A Wild Jack Appears

From the Void to the Guild, it's time to fight the big bad guy.

25G - Winter Is Coming

Travel to the Northern Wastes, because it sounds like just the place you'd want to visit.

25G - Are You Listening To Me?

Few things are smarter in Albion than a talking stone door, so imagine a door that knows the YMCA.

25G - Making Tough Decisions

Behind the Bronze Gate lies your destiny, and all it needs is the death of your closest allies.

100G - (#SPOILERS)

It's time to defeat the super awesome boss, the one you will see if you unlock this achievement.

And that brings to an end this achievements blog post. To the 0.1% of you that are still reading – thank you. If you’ve not had your fill, you can read the “post-complete” achievement descriptions and discuss them all over on our forums.

From all of us at Lionhead, we hope you have fun unlocking these achievements when you play Fable Anniversary in February 2014!
