Comic-Con Round Up: Day One

San Diego Comic Con 2013 kicked off yesterday with scores of Fable fans (aka Chicken Chasers) making it over to the Xbox Lounge in the Hyatt Hotel to play. It was great to see the excitement surrounding Fable Anniversary coming to Xbox 360 later this year. If we had a gold piece for every person who told us Fable was their favourite game, we would be able to buy Fairfax Castle.

Here’s a snap of our first player of the show!

We had a steady flow of fans all day, some sought us out specially to feast their eyes on the enhanced Fable 1 experience, some stumbled upon us and reminisced about their first Fable playthrough. At one point we even had a very British experience in sunny San Diego – a queue!

At 8pm we pried the controller out of a poor kid’s hands (“Just let me kill one more bandit purleeeeese?”) and headed over to the hip Hard Rock Hotel for the Xbox Showcase. This was a fancy party for the media and VIPs to get hands on time with some of the games coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 this year, including Fable Anniversary.

It wasn’t long before we got a very special (and excited) guest come over to play. Like a kid in a candy store, UFC star Brandon ‘the Truth’ Vera told us how much he loved Fable and was very willing to be a Beta tester if we ever needed some game feedback.

Brandon and Anniversary designer Ted Timmins even discussed a job swap! We can definitely see Brandon sitting over at Lionhead HQ designing new features and content; Ted might need to brush up on his Martial Art skills though!
