We all know from seeing the concept art on Lionhead.com that the Fable 2 artists have some impressive talents and skills with paint and a pencil! To be fair, most of them use a drawing tablet these days.
Every two weeks there is a one hour art session in our offices, where the volunteers get a subject, a situation or sometimes even a live model to draw and interpret in some form. We’ve seen environments made with MS Paint, basic shaped characters and a collage of pictures with Jesus behind a mixing desk, pretty much all of them Fable 2 themed.
This brings us to the following idea of giving everyone, even the people with just that tiny bit of creative juice in them, the chance to create ‘Fable 2 Fan Art’ and display it in our Fable 2 Fan Art gallery. We’ve already seen some great work on our forums but now we’ll be making it a bit more organized and also give the art more visibility.
Here’s how it goes:
- You put something together in an image; you can draw, write, sketch, paste, scan, almost anything you want to create your piece of art.
- You send it to fanart@lionhead.com
and the one requirement we have is that the image or picture is not bigger than 2 MB in file size to make sure our mailbox doesn’t burst.
- We will then look at them to see if they’re appropriate to publish on our website and put the ones that aren’t in a special cupboard. There will be a monthly round table discussion to see which ones will make it onto the website.
- We’ve made sure most of the Fable artists have a Lionhead Community account so they will be commenting and giving feedback on the pieces of art (time permitting).
- We will then select the ‘Fan Art of the Month’ from all the best entries we’ve received and we’ll give credit where credit’s due of course.
So grab pencil and paper, open a paint program on your computer or get a canvas and some paint from the garage and express yourself! We’re looking forward to the insane, brilliant, funny, downright weird images people are going to come up with. To give you an idea; here are a few examples from our forums:
